Michael Joseph Zopka IV

Two years ago, I moved into 41 Saratoga Street on October 15. For many reasons, this day in particular was difficult although it was the most memorable day of my life. All of my belongings inclusive of what I had moved here from my apartment in California. I had a lot of furniture. This all day task required a few large trucks with professional movers, a support team and family, but rather quickly, Phyllis became the entire day’s topic with my moving team. Phyllis had made immediate conversation with all of us and especially bonded with my cousin who drove one of the trucks. My cousin Michael kept appearing with the biggest smile on his face throughout the day... We would ask him where you have been. He responded, “Helping my new girlfriend of stylish character.” Phyllis had politely asked my cousin to coordinate as darkness drew near, the rearrangements of trucks, and if he would take her keys, maneuver when done the reposition of her car back to her desired parking spot directly in front of her home. Phyllis made a sincere consideration for a new tenant to move into the new building as easy as possible. We all said wow! - What a nice neighborhood, strangers who trust without hesitation to hand you their car keys. She was fearless and trustworthy of a respected outcome. I often would witness especially on cold winter snowy days, Phyllis starting up her car, warming it up in complete maintenance knowledge while all dressed up as if she was going to a special event, always making eye contact while looking through the iced over car window. Phyllis so well remembered of an infectious assured smile, notable twinkle in her eyes with an extensive business career history. She left us with onward hope. I feel most blessed to be a tenant in her home’s original property. I will forever deeply miss her notable knocking style on my door. She enjoyed sharing a variety of cake, juice or a remaining slice of pizza. I will miss her smile and the gracious acceptance of my sharing with her chocolates from See’s candy of California. This last month I especially feel blessed to have honored her graciously by accompanying Phyllis taking short walks in her building. As reminder left for us to hear, her early morning alarm clock is chirping still today. It will always ring as an early day’s reminder to awake in eagerness for life’s longevity, keeping young and vibrant, fearless of our day’s business duties to oneself and others. An inclusive remembrance of Phyllis apartment door number 2F keeps our spirits forever young, an eye of twinkle delight encouraged through witness of a naturally determined woman that outdistanced all of us while residing here at this residence.
